Food on the Galapagos is great but I hit a wall and could not bear to eat another meal served with two cups of rice so I went to the burger cart at the end of my street. I don’t remember the last time I was so excited to see spinach. Love Ecuadorian food but it’s a lot of meat, potatoes and rice without anything green. It’s not easy to get here as the islands aren’t the best for growing greens so they have to bring it over from the mainland. http://bit.ly/17ZiWV9

Last time I was in Ecuador I became obsessed with homemade aji and was so upset I couldn’t find tomate de árbol as it is the ingredient that makes Ecuadorian hot sauce superior to every other kind, including sriracha (gasp I know). Puerto Ayora in the #Galapagos is small but there is still a thriving street food scene. Tonight I ordered grilled fish with salad, rice, beans and passion fruit juice. Per usual the salad was miniscule but the quantity of rice and beans warranted a plate of its own. But this does not surprise me. Oh the things that crawl my walls in my Galapagos house. For some reason I don’t mind cockroaches on the floor but on the wall grosses me out. Although I welcome the Galapagos lava lizard on the right as it eats bugs but sadly not big enough to eat cockroaches. http://bit.ly/17wx5sy
